Nominations are invited from financial Individual members of the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia Inc, for the positions of Officers and Committee members for 2020.

The Committee will consist of up to 13 members comprising a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, the Chairperson/nominee of each State based Advisory Committee, and a minimum of three elected members.

Congratulations to the operators of the Marian WTP in Mackay who were awarded a Silver Medal at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting competition held in West Viginia, USA.

The municipal water category saw the water from California judged as the best in the world for 2020 just ahead of the Australian sample from the Mackay Regional Council. The winner was the Mission Springs Water District, Desert Hot Springs, California, that has been a multiple medal winner over the years, previously winning in 1999.

The water team at the Mackay Regional Council treat the water  from the headwaters of the Pioneer River which originates in the tropical rainforest of the Eungella National Park and supplies the townships of Marian and Mirani with around 6000 residents in those towns.

These communities can now celebrate after being acknowledged as having the second best water in the world.

The 2020 title of the Ixom Australia’s Best Tasting Tap Water will continue in 2020 with state championships throughout the year, culminating in the national title that will be conducted at the  Global Groove outdoor festival in Mackay on Saturday 24 October 2020.

WIOA members have an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in a tour of New Zealand water facilities in 2020. It is anticipated the tour will leave Australia on Friday 15 May 2020 and return from New Zealand on Saturday 23 May 2020.

The tour includes the Water Industry Operations Group New Zealand Conference to be held in Napier from 20 to 22 May 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

All operational staff are invited to share their in the field innovations & fixes to problems so that others in the water industry can benefit.

The winner will join the WIOA team on their annual operational tour of New Zealand including attendance at the Water Industry Operations Group of NZ annual conference

All water industry personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of urban, rural and industrial water-related infrastructure for the management, conveyance, treatment, discharge and reuse of water and trade wastes are invited to submit an abstract for consideration. The technical program will cover various aspects of the industry.

If you have initiatives, ideas or have completed works that could influence the operational aspect of the water industry, there’s no better place to share them than at a WIOA conference in the technical program.

WIOA is pleased to announce the 2020 dates for our conference and exhibitions in NSW, Queensland and Victoria.

The NSW event will return to Tamworth, the Queensland event will be held in Toowoomba and the Victorian event will once again be conducted in Bendigo.

Congratulations to the operators of the Marian WTP in Mackay who have been acknowledged as the Ixom 2019 Australia,s Best Tasting Tap Water competition. The voting was very close but the sample representing Queensland from the Mackay Regional Council came out just ahead of the other state champions.

The title was awarded at the 3 Peaks Festival in Dunkeld the home of the 2018 title holder Wannon Water who hosted the national final.

The Network Operator Development Program has been established to identify, mentor and develop future leaders in the Network Operations field across the Victorian Water Industry.
