Congratulations to the team from the Mount Leslie WTP who were announced as the winner of the Ixom 2019 Best Tasting Tap Water in Tasmania.

Grand finalists included Mole Creek, Reatta Road and Rocky Creek that was also acknowledged as being the best new facility.

The sample from the Mount Leslie WTP will be invited to represent Tasmania in the National competition to be held at the 3 Peaks Festival in Dunkeld during National Water Week on 19 October, where WIOA will announce the Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia.

The 2nd Water Industry Safety Event (WISE) will be held on Wednesday 9 October in Coburg, Victoria.

Exhibition site sales will be accepted from 1.00 pm on Wednesday 10 July 2019.  Sites are allocated in the order in which applications are received.

Congratulations to NSW for the sample supplied by Shoalhaven Water for winning the 2019 Ixom Water of Origin.  The sample from Bamarang WTP will join other states in determining Australia’s Best Tap Water in October during National Water Week.

In partnership with TRILITY, WIOA invites applications for the Kwatye – Cultural Recognition Award.  Applications close on 20 July .

The award is open to WIOA individual members, to recognise an initiative involving cultural or diversity and inclusion based activities within a project and/or community in which they serve.  

The winner will have made an outstanding contribution to supporting diversity and fostering inclusion in the workplace or community. The award focuses on those who have gone above and beyond to further inclusion, connection and belonging for co-workers, members of the community and people from disadvantaged and marginalised groups.

Congratulations to all of our members who nominated for positions on the WIOA Executive and General Committee that were elected on Thursday 14 March 2019.

Heidi Josipovic from Albury City Council becomes the second woman President in WIOA history and the first outside of Victoria. Mark Samblebe from MBS Water will be Vice President.

Newly elected members to the General Committee include Eloise O’Keefe form Goulburn Valley Water and Grant Waite from North East Water.

Outgoing President Adrian Rijnbeek was thanked for his efforts as well as outgoing committee member Glenn Alford.
