Congratulations to Brad Alcon from SAWater on being awarded the 2018 South Australian Operator of the Year at a wastewater interest day held on Thursday 22 November 2018.

Brad will now join other WIOA members and award winners from other states across Australia on a tour to New Zealand water facilities in 2018. The tour includes the Water Industry Operations Group New Zealand Conference.

Congratulations to the two major WIOA award winners that were announced at a water interest day held on Wednesday 14 November 2018.

Rodney Innes was announced as the 2018 WIOA Tasmanian Operator of the Year, and Bradley Housego was awarded the 2018 WIOA Tasmanian Young Operator of the Year. Both awards are sponsored by TasWater as part of their rewards and recognition programs and we thanks the TasWater team for their support of these fantastic awards that recognise the operational employees for the dedication and work they undertake.

Both Rodney and Bradley will now join other WIOA members and award winners from other states across Australia on a tour to New Zealand water facilities in 2018. The tour includes the Water Industry Operations Group New Zealand Conference.

WIOA invites individuals to join us in Coburg for the Water Industry Safety Event on Wednesday 24 October 2018

Nominations are invited from members who would like to be more involved with WIOA to nominate to be part of the Advisory Committee in their respective State.

State based WIOA Advisory Committees are vital to provide members the opportunity to actively participate in the direction of WIOA in their state and to become more engaged with their association. Nominations close on 12 October.

Congratulations to all the award winners from the WIOA Victorian Water Industry Operations Conference held in Bendigo.

Awards presented for papers as well as the competitive main tapping competition and Water Taste Test all contributed to another successful event with over 1500 in attendance.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of Life membership to John Harris from Wannon Water.

Conference Awards

Adam Panozzo from North East Water was announced as the 2018 Victorian of the Year at the WIOA Awards Dinner.

The Victorian Young Operator of the Year Award was taken out by Tabatha James from Melbourne Water and the Victorian Network Operator of the Year was awarded to Tim Kiddle from Barwon Water.

Paul Beard from Water Corporation in WA was awarded the Best Paper by an Operator ahead of presentations that were also recognised from Scott Whitehead from Goulburn Valley Water and Simon Palframan from North East Water. The Best Paper Overall was won by Michael Chapman from North East Water.

The Ixom Best Tasting Tap Water in Victoria conducted on Wednesday that saw the Wannon Water sample form the Hamilton WTP awarded the top gong.

Wannon Water will now compete for Australia’s Best Tasting Tap Water at the national championship to be held in Toowoomba on 17 October 2018.

WIOA is pleased to announce that applications for companies wanting to exhibit at the Water Industry Safety Event (WISE) to be held at the Batman Royale in Coburg, Victoria on 24 October 2018 open on Wednesday 11 July at 1pm AEST.

This is the first safety focussed event WIOA has conducted and with support of Melbourne Water we look forward to providing this valuable network for the benefit of safety professionals, operational leaders, the operators and suppliers to the industry.
