Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

We are looking for a skilled technical officer specialising in SCADA (Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition System) and Telemetry to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of SCADA and Telemetry systems used for monitoring and controlling water infrastructure.

Excellent technical troubleshooting and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail ensures your ability to diagnose faults and provide maintenance on assets.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills allow for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across GVW.

A requirement for substantial travel across our geographical area will be met with your energy and drive to service our vast landscape to support our commitment to providing high quality services.

About your new role…

This newly created role is born from a need to provide further capability and support in our radio communications and SCADA team.

Radio communications form a critical element in the core business system. This is used to inform how the plants are running, if there are any critical failures and maintenance required and an ability to observe performance remotely. Considering GVW’s large geographical footprint and the many plants in our responsibility, the ability to use these systems to support our operations is especially crucial.

This is an extensive system that is designed, controlled, and monitored by an in-house team that you will be joining.

This position is based at the Shepparton Operations Centre where you will enjoy being part of a working environment amongst technical and operational staff with the bonus of hassle-free parking! You will be afforded the ability to work flexibly, in line with GVW’s flexible working policy

About you…
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:

  • Diploma or above in Electronics and Communication or similar
  • D Class 2 or above Electrical Licence (preferred, not essential)
  • Extensive electrical trades experience preferably in the Industrial or Water/Utilities Industry.
  • Experience with Telemetry/RTU’s and Radio Communication Systems
  • Knowledge of SCADA software products
  • Ability to read, comprehend and update electrical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and presentation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills including applications software/mobile applications.
  • A strong safety value aligned to commitment and focus.

  • Classification GVW4: $93,666 – $113,306 + superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant, qualifications, skills, and experience demonstrated)
