THE OPPORTUNITY
• The provision of specialist guidance to the organisation to enable them to comply with relevant targets, objectives and actions contained in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy
• The preparation and implementation of strategies and project management of key projects aimed at reducing the use of potable water across Council’s activities
• The development and implementation of education and community awareness programs for adults, children and businesses focused around the topic water conservation. The intent is to achieve a high level of community participation and acceptance of water reduction and associated measures

COULD THIS BE YOU?
Our Sustainability team is seeking a motivated individual passionate about water sustainability who enjoys working with the community and relevant stakeholders to achieve the targets outlined in our Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a polished verbal presentation style, and excellent interpersonal abilities. They should have experience or a willingness to learn in areas such as community and stakeholder engagement, project management, and data analysis.
Experience working collaboratively with state government, developing and delivering community engagement sessions for adults, children, businesses, and community groups, as well as experience in project management, liaising, and problem-solving with stakeholders regarding drought and water security challenges, is highly desirable

The Sustainability Officer – Water is responsible for:
• Preparing and implementing strategies that reduce the use of potable water across Council
• Developing and implementing education and community awareness programmes in relation to water conservation initiatives
• Preparing and delivering targeted media campaigns
• Building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders
• Managing the delivery of sustainability related projects in the water area

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
• Demonstrated experience in a similar position with a strong background in the water industry
• Ability to use initiative and to identify and develop opportunities and ideas
• Advanced Diploma (2 years full time), or equivalent experience in a relevant area – Water Science/ Hydrology, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Journalism, Communication.
• Experience in developing and delivering educational programmes to community groups
• The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Project Management experience
• A current drivers licence
• Current NSW Working with Children Check

Salary range: Grade 15 – $83,391.79 – $90,237.62 per annum plus superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
