About the position

The Manager Water & Wastewater provides excellence in leadership and overall management of water and wastewater services for Muswellbrook Shire, and has a strong, strategic and asset management focus to ensure water and wastewater services are planned and managed to a best practice standard to achieve the strategic objectives of Council and the community.

Muswellbrook Shire is one of NSW’s most dynamic local government areas. For over four decades it has been at the heart of the State’s energy industry, and we are now on the transition to being a renewable energy hub. We have the two largest thoroughbred horse studs in the southern hemisphere, a healthy viticulture industry, and a large part of the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park within the Shire. We are also central to Newcastle, Tamworth and Dubbo.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil (Water & Wastewater) or equivalent, or extensive experience in the management of water and wastewater systems in a local government environment.
  • Solid experience and knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practical application of strategic and total asset management, preferably in the field of water supply and sewerage assets.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and diverse team, coupled with an ability to drive and implement a positive, performance based culture.
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in the management of works teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description).
  • Demonstrated Highly Advanced key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).

We offer

  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary from $145,079to $148,618 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation
