Your opportunity:

Our Operations Hub team have an exciting, fixed-term opportunity for an Operations Hub Operator to join the Operations and Maintenance Planning Group within our Operations Hub.

The Operations and Maintenance Planning Group is accountable for the performance, operation and optimisation of Urban Utilities water and wastewater networks to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is delivered. This includes planning the maintenance for Urban Utilities entire asset base.

In this group, we specialise in getting things done in new and remarkable ways for our customers. We don’t do things in the same old way!

Based in our new Central Control Room at our head office in Fortitude Valley, the Operations Hub Operator monitors, controls and operates Urban Utilities’ water, wastewater, and recycled water networks. Using a growing suite of operational technologies, including SCADA and IOT, we ensure real-time operational performance, prevention, and response to service interruptions and an exceptional experience to customers and delivery partners.

As a key member of our Operations Hub Crew, you will be required to work as part of the 24/7 roster in our Operations Hub and may be required to cover team leave from time to time. The role may also be required to provide Operations Hub services such as permitting on behalf of Urban Utilities to non-regulated customers.

In this role, key accountabilities will include:

  • Make considered and measured operational decisions to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of our water, wastewater, and recycled water assets.
  • Ensure operating systems function correctly and are fit for purpose, including troubleshooting and organising corrective action while at the same time mitigating any risk to assets.
  • Contributing to the adoption of a digital culture, applying digital capabilities and a preventative operational methodology.
  • Actively participating and achieving the business goals of the Operations Hub team by following procedures, response and prevention protocols to ensure our water, wastewater, and recycled water networks are running optimally.
  • Building capability framework using existing formal and informal development opportunities.
  • Interpret commercial results and provide insights and recommendations of service trends.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks and ensure safe working methods are utilised.

Panama Plus Roster Applies: 8 cycles of 4 on 4 off (11 hour day and night shifts), then 2 weeks of 8 hour shifts Mon- Fri with 1 x RDO.

About you:

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future and, ideally, have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Experience working in a similar operational role.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability using operational technologies and systems such as SCADA, GIS, UrbanAccess permitting software, Guardian IMS and CMMS works management systems.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible, adaptable and be a team player.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a 24/7 team environment that has significant organisational impact and urgency associated.
