  • DEVELOPING ORGANISATION WITH A NATIONAL FOCUS

WIOA Events Coordinator

The Water Industry Operators Association (WIOA) of Australia has been in operation since 1973, with its founding members aiming to provide a forum where wastewater engineers and operators could share information and learn from each other to support their work in the promotion and protection of the environment. Over the years, the Association has grown, expanding its reach nationally, now boasting over 4,300 members from across Australia.

Training and events therefore lie at the heart of WIOA’s very purpose and we are looking for an Events Coordinator to help us to stage them.

WIOA’s state-based conferences held every year in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria are our flagship events and the main source of revenue for WIOA, but they aren’t the only events we run. We also run one-day interactive seminars, interest days and tours, charity events, and WIOA Talks webinars, as well as facilitate the Network Operator Development Program in Victoria.

Your role will involve:

  • Mapping out an annual events schedule.
  • Identifying appropriate service providers for each face-to-face event held, including venues, caterers, contractors, etc.
  • Working closely with the Digital Design Coordinator to facilitate website and social media updates, together with contributions to the e-newsletters.
  • Coordinating event registration processes.
  • Monitoring event budgets and reporting on progress.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders to facilitate exhibition stand bookings, sponsorship packages and promotion, fielding event enquiries and coordinating volunteers at events.
  • Frequent travel.
  • Webinar facilitation.

You will bring:

  • Three (3) years + experience in coordinating large-scale professional events.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, project/event management or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • A genuine ability to connect with others across geographically dispersed areas, anticipate their needs and show initiative in providing professional advice.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills that can adapt to changing audiences, together with confidence in facilitating events both online and offline.
  • High level of organisational and planning skills, with an ability to recognise priorities and adapt work plan based on evolving needs.
  • Willingness to travel.

We will offer:

  • Full-time position subject to 3 month probationary period.
  • A competitive salary package including 10.5% superannuation and travel expense allowances.
  • A flat structured work team that encourages open collaboration and cross-skilled support.
  • 4 weeks annual leave and sick leave entitlements.

Why the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia?
