WATER PUMPING INSTITUTE is an Australian based pumping system training and energy auditing organisation.

Its Managing Director Robert Welke is a para-professional Mechanical Engineer with 54 years in water pumping and hydraulics experience.

Robert commenced his career with 25 years with SA Water, monitoring the energy efficiency of major pumping (130,000 kW) and pipeline (up to 1.6m diam) infrastructure across the state.

Post SA Water, Robert went into private practice as an independent consultant to the water and sewage pumping industry (he has never sold product), practicing what he learned in SA Water.

This includes designing 20 sewage pump stations to WSA 04 standards, providing pumping system designs and energy audits, where he has identified over $650,000 worth of annual pumping electricity cost savings in large water pumping systems.

More recently, Rob has used his practical experience to design a state-of-the-art training course for Water Pumping Systems.

His flagship course is the Pumping System Master Class, which now has an International following in Aust, NZ, USA and Europe, mainly through ONLINE training. This course is available in a version optimised for Water Industry Operators (PSMC – for WIO’s).

This course teaches the ultimate in pumping sustainability. Its is NOT a pump training course, but rather a pumping system training course. It uses inhouse software and life cycle costing to demonstrate the impact of poor hydraulics on pump operating costs, then provides solutions to optimising pumping costs.
