Meet the Team

New team member!

Katy is a communications and event specialist, experienced in delivering strategic communications and event strategies across a wide range of industries and platforms. She has run member cooperatives, and worked in Government, not for profit and the profit for purpose sectors. Most recently, Katy was a project manager for a national agency committed to delivering evidence and changes in practice and policy to support excellence and equity in educational outcomes for children and young people.

She joins WIOA as the new Manager, Communications, Events and Office Support – and looks forward to diversifying the WIOA offering and building on the incredible work of the last 50 years.

Tell us about yourself?

I’m very excited to be joining WIOA as the newest team member. I’ve come from a projects and events background in a real mix of industries, with the common thread of collaboration and growth across my career. I’m passionate about building meaningful connections to achieve positive outcomes and if that sounds like a load of buzzwords, essentially, I’m looking forward to meeting and chatting with members to continue serving the WIOA community and water industry!

What are you most looking forward to at WIOA?

The upcoming NSW conference and exhibition will be a great opportunity to meet our members and exhibitors and hear about the exciting work happening across the industry. In my previous life, I worked as an Event Operations Planner for the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne (Museums Victoria) and I’ve missed the action of operational bump in/out and the being able to connect in person. If you see me floating around, please do say hi!

Can you tell us a bit about your life, outside work?

Outside of work, you can usually find me in Clunes, having recently moved up from Melbourne. I’ll be chasing after my 2-year-old, my chickens, or my rescue greyhound.

I love cooking, gardening, and checking out local parks with my little family. My husband will tell you I’m not a natural hiker, but I’m learning to give it a try!

What advice would you give your younger self?

Slow down… you’re doing fine!
