Calix is a multi-award-winning Australia technology company that is developing new processes and materials to solve global challenges.

The core technology is a world-first, patented “kiln” built in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria that produces “mineral honeycomb” – very highly active minerals!

Calix is using these minerals, which are safe and environmentally friendly, to improve waste water treatment and phosphate removal, and help protect sewer assets from corrosion.

ACTI-Mag™ is a concentrated stabilised suspension of magnesium hydroxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)2. Because it is manufactured in Calix’s patented calcining technology from highly reactive magnesium oxide powder, ACTI-Mag™ imparts superior neutralisation capacity and speed, while being safer to handle than other traditional alkalis.

ACTI-Mag™ has a higher neutralising value per dry kilo when compared with caustic and lime, which lowers chemical consumption, making ACTI-Mag™ a cost competitive option due to the reduction in plant and equipment requirements. ACTI-Mag™ is also used extensively for hydrogen sulphide gas (H2S) control in sewers and industrial waste treatment systems. Highly fluid, ACTI-Mag™ has proven to flow easily in most dosing systems.

PROTECTA-Mag™ provides an enduring high pH surface coating for concrete sewer infrastructure, preventing corrosion of man holes, wet wells, parts of sewage treatment plants and large diameter sewer pipes. PROTECTA-Mag™ is safe, environmentally friendly, cost effective and can be applied without shutting down or isolating the sewer.

PROTECTA-Mag™¬ is a concentrated, controlled viscosity, stabilised suspension of magnesium hydroxide liquid (MHL). The thixotropic properties of PROTECTA-Mag™ allow the suspension to be easily pumped for spraying.

Calix’s technology has also been adopted overseas, where we are working with some of the world’s largest companies, governments and research institutions on CO2 capture.
