We’re looking for a skilled tradesperson to help maintain and improve Council’s water infrastructure. In this role, you’ll use your welding and fabrication skills to carry out repairs, routine maintenance, and installation work across a range of Council assets. You’ll also provide practical advice on fabrication and repairs to other teams and customers when needed.
You’ll take responsibility for the quality of your work, follow all safety and environmental rules, and help create a workplace where everyone looks out for each other. Part of the job includes supporting apprentices with guidance and hands-on learning, as well as taking on specialised tasks that match your training and experience. You may also be required to join the on-call roster.

Qualifications and Experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
Mandatory
* Qualified Tradesperson as a Certificate 3 Boilermaker or equivalent.
* Perform general boiler making duties – grinding, cutting (friction and gas cutting), welding (GTAW, GMAW, MMAW), welding of various metal types (aluminium, stainless, cast iron, cast steel), polishing, cropping, pressing, heat treatment and stress relieving of steels, shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment and carbon rod gauging.
* Ability to read and understand plans and engineered construction drawings.
* Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence (with ability to obtain an “MR” licence).
Desirable
* Substantial trade experience in industrial boiler making.
* High level of knowledge about and experience in planning and performing welding repairs, maintenance, modifications and installation work unsupervised and across a diverse range of industries.
* Problem solving abilities and skills commensurate of a tradesman with significant experience in industrial works.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience in training apprentices.
* Good customer service skills to interact with internal or external customers and the general public.
* Dogman’s ticket.
* Bridge / Gantry ticket.
* Forklift Licence.
* Ability to estimate, quantify and quote work requirements.
