Senior Water Treatment Plant Operator
Based in Mulwala, but will work across the Federation Council area

The opportunity
Are you an experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator ready to take on a leadership role in delivering safe and high quality water operations to Corowa and surrounding areas? We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our essential services team. In this crucial role, you will leverage your expertise to oversee daily operations of our water treatment facility, including monitoring and adjusting processes, performing advanced trouble shooting and ensure strict compliance with Australian standards. In this role you will
· Operate, maintain and repair the water treatment plants
· Comply with licence requirements including monitoring performance of the reticulation system and coordinating associated work through the Team Leader Water Treatment and Utilities Coordinator
· Operate and maintain the water supply pump stations
· Operate and maintain the water supply reservoirs
· Assist with repairs and maintenance of the water reticulation systems when required
· Undertake all tests, including water sampling and analysis, required for the proper operation of the water treatment plants to provide safe drinking water to the standards required by Council and in accordance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines
· Maintain manual and computer records of the water treatment plant’s operation
· Maintain all buildings, pump stations, grounds and other works in a clean and tidy condition
· Maintain all equipment in a state of good repair and follow plant and equipment maintenance documentation procedures
· Maintain first aid equipment
· Work to operator, industry and trade standards to achieve best practice quality control
· Work to all requirements set by NSW Health and Environment Department regulators and State and Commonwealth legislation
· Perform other duties when required, including operation of other Water Treatment Plants within Federation Council within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
● Hold Accredited Treatment Plant certifications such as Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment Specialising in Drinking Water.
● Hold a current and valid class “C” driver’s licence, Confined Spaces Entry Accreditation and a Construction Induction Card (White Card).
● Familiarity with a range of software packages such as Microsoft Office, Email systems, Internet searching and Records Management systems.
● Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment plant operations and maintenance.
● Demonstrated history of showing initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity and ability to seek guidance where required.
● Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a supervisory capacity.
● Demonstrated ability to meet the capability requirements of this position as defined in the capability statement.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1305.30 per week with progression up to $1440.70 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
