As a Sewage Treatment Plant Operator, you will learn from experts in the field, developing skills and experience that will set you up for a career for life! Progression opportunities are available once you’re certified.
What you’ll be doing
You will assist in the efficient operation and maintenance of a Sewage Treatment Plant (including outside regular hours) and comply with the City of Gold Coast Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental Protection requirements.
Teamwork is paramount as you’ll work with operators and assistants, reporting issues that are outside of Licence Quality Assurance and Integrated Environment Management Systems requirements.
Duties include data collection, lab work (performing testing), cleaning duties, and running equipment as your skill level progresses. You’ll also have hands-on learning with our computer programs to operate systems.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Enthusiasm and can work autonomously as well as contribute to group objectives
- A desire to learn and develop your skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to consult with a range of City personnel
- Adaptability to multi-task in a changing environment to achieve work goals, deadlines and commitments
- Curiosity and a lateral thinker who draws sound conclusions from available data, identifies and proposes effective solutions
- Continuous improvement perspective and contributes to the development of new operational procedures
- Physical capability to attain and maintain confined spaces certification and relevant machinery licences
- Australian Drivers Licence
- Desire to obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White).

- To be eligible for this position, you must have permanent working rights in Australia.
- This position is classified as security-sensitive critical infrastructure positions and the successful candidate will be required to undertake an AusCheck Background Check. This background check may cause a delay to our onboarding process.
- You will be required to wear a tight-fitting respirator at times. For safety reasons and to ensure a proper fit, a clean-shaven face must be maintained at all times.
