Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking an experienced Supervisor Water and Sewer Networks to join our amazing Utilities Team.
In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of the daily supervision of operational and maintenance functions of Council’s water distribution, wastewater collection and recycled water networks. Working with the Coordinator Water and Sewer Networks, overseeing daily operations, providing technical guidance and planning and directing operational work schedules.
The position will lead a team of skilled professionals across the shire, coordinating maintenance and repair activities.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:
Leading, motivating, mentoring, and supervising a team of water network crew and plumbers. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure staff members meet performance standards.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Ensure employee performance is meeting expectations and managing these expectations successfully.
Lead the team to ensure quality and level of service is maintained while responding to work requests.
Working with utilities schedulers and planners to ensure planned maintenance is undertaken as per the schedule to ensure longevity and reliability of assets.
Lead the response to reactive unplanned events and emergency works.
Respond promptly to infrastructure issues, overseeing repairs to minimise service disruptions.
Collaborate with maintenance crews and contractors to address emergency situations effectively, while providing technical advice as required to the team for these unplanned events.
Assist in the scoping and management of minor works and maintenance contracts/projects to ensure they are outcome driven and works are delivered within budget and timeframes.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
QBCC Occupational Plumber qualification or suitable alternative degree/qualification.
General Construction Induction Card.
Minimum of Queensland C class drivers’ licence.
Significant demonstrated experience in and knowledge of water and wastewater network management.
Demonstrated strong capacity to plan workload both individually and for the broader team, achieve set goals and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in work planning, including choosing appropriate resources.
Proven people management experience with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact positively and effectively to lead, motivate and mentor teams to achieve required outcomes.
Commitment to a team-based approach, with demonstrated ability to work productively and cooperatively in a team environment to ensure the delivery of a high standard of customer service.
Ability to remain calm and level-headed, determining when and what assistance or guidance may be required in challenging or unusual situations.
High level problem solving and knowledge of planned and responsive maintenance activities.
Competent use of Microsoft Office programs.
