The WIOA 2026 NSW Water Industry Operations Conference & Exhibition delivered two outstanding days of learning, collaboration and industry connection in Newcastle earlier this month.
With strong attendance across all categories and more than 650 people on site, the event continued its reputation as one of the largest and most influential operational water events in the state.
Delegates experienced a comprehensive program featuring technical presentations, keynote speakers, hands‑on demonstrations and an exhibition showcasing new products, technologies and operational solutions from across the sector.
The exhibition floor was a major highlight, offering operators and industry professionals the chance to engage directly with suppliers, explore innovations and discuss practical applications for their workplaces.
Popular elements of the program returned again this year, including the Veolia Women in Water Operations Breakfast, the IXOM Best Tasting Tap Water competition and the Reece Civil + Viadux Main Tapping Competition — all of which drew strong crowds and enthusiastic participation.
A special moment for the conference was welcoming two water operators from the Torres Strait Islands. Their involvement added a unique perspective to the event, and they were particularly impressed by the technology, equipment and innovation showcased throughout the exhibition and demonstrations.
The momentum behind the NSW conference continues to grow, with 2026 marking one of the strongest turnouts on record.
Planning is already underway for the 2027 event, which will be held in Canberra and is expected to build on the success and energy of this year’s program.
