South Australia’s  Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS) Conference

  • June 09, 2026

From June 4th-5th, the LGA South Australia’s Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS) Conference was held in Barossa, SA. The two-day event proved to be a fantastic few days for the operational community, featuring a brilliant agenda from start to finish.

A major highlight of the event was the comprehensive site tour of the Nuriootpa Waste Water Treatment Plant, which provided a great opportunity for our Manager of Relationship & Partnerships, Tash, to connect in person with industry peers, including qldwater’s Jess Dean and David Scheltinga. This was followed by a wonderful networking dinner and a top-tier lineup of technical presentations.

A special shout-out goes to our South Australia Advisory Committee Deputy Chair, Nick Swain, who did a fantastic job delivering the official WIOA update as part of the conference proceedings.

We also extend a massive congratulations to the well-deserved recipient of the CWMS Excellence Award, Damien Lethbridge from GMB Water! It is always inspiring to see such outstanding dedication recognised within our operational community.

The event provided a wonderful platform to connect face-to-face with members of the SA Advisory Committee, including Emily Lohmann from the SA Office of the Technical Regulator and Chloe Downes from Alexandrina Council. There are some truly exciting things on the horizon, and our South Australian events scheduled for later this year are shaping up to be absolute standouts.

A huge thank you to the LGA SA team for putting together such a seamless, high-quality event. We thoroughly enjoyed participating and looks forward to staying connected with everyone who attended.
