This role will deliver sample collection and analytical support for the Townsville Laboratory Services in the areas of chemistry, microbiology, environmental compliance and monitoring and quality assurance.
This position is responsible for sampling, housekeeping, data entry, reagent preparations and bench top analysis in the laboratory.
The role will complete onsite sampling from rivers, creeks, dams and ocean waters, multiple times throughout the week and this will be completed from the land or via a boat.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Completion of Certificate III in Laboratory Skills within one year of employment.
* Experience in a water laboratory or similar analytical facility particularly in the areas of groundwater, surface water and open water sampling and in-situ testing.
* Sound written and verbal communication skills.
* Sound scientific and mathematical skills.
* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
* Queensland boat licence and experience in launching and driving a recreational marine vehicle. Coxswain licence is desirable.
* Current “C” class licence.
* Forklift licence is desirable.
