WIOA is thrilled to announce TasWater Fern Tree Treatment Plant as the winner of the 2023 IXOM National Best Tasting Tap Water competition. Competing against entries from South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, and Western Australia, Fern Tree emerged victorious at the Lilydale and Yarra Valley Show in Victoria, securing over 215 votes from attendees.
Throughout 2023, water authorities nationwide participated in state competitions, culminating in Fern Tree being crowned the national champion. Using a blind taste test and the Water Tasting Wheel, reminiscent of wine tasting, the competition evaluates attributes like color, clarity, odour, and taste. The TasWater Fern Tree treatment plant will proudly represent Australia at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition in the US in February 2024.
WIOA extends its congratulations to TasWater and acknowledges the efforts of all water providers and their Operators in delivering exceptional drinking water to their communities. The annual IXOM Best Tasting Tap Water competition, sponsored by IXOM, adds an element of excitement while recognizing the dedication of local water service providers.
WIOA expresses gratitude for IXOM’s longstanding support, highlighting the company’s century-long involvement in supplying high-quality water treatment chemicals across Australia.
