As part of International Women’s Month 2025, we are launching a national Women in Water Operations (WiWO) Network. This new initiative from the Water Industry Operations Association of Australia (WIOA) is dedicated to building an industry culture where women are empowered, celebrated, and supported in their careers.
Our focus
Connect
collaborators, mentors and allies across the Women in Water Operations network
Attract
and retain women by reducing barriers and showcasing career pathways
Create
partnerships and opportunities that foster diverse emerging talent and leadership
Celebrate
women in water operations and their value and achievements
About WiWo
This inclusive network was conceived by Kate Bardy, Manager Operations Projects & Maintenance of North East Water in 2024. The WiWO Steering Committee was formed shortly after to facilitate bringing this network to life.
Our mission
To establish a thriving network that builds an industry culture where women are empowered and celebrated, barriers are reduced, and water operations is an attractive, viable and visible career path for everyone.
Our vision
An industry culture that celebrates and unites women working in water and their allies.
Our strategy
Our 2024-27 Strategic Plan was finalised in February 2025 and sets the stage for WiWOs’ growth and success.

As part of this launch, we invite you to join the network, attend our Women of Water Breakfast and connect with us at the 2025 VIC Water Industry Operations Conference & Exhibition in Bendigo on April 2-3, 2025.
