Congratulations to all the award winners from the WIOA Queensland Water Industry Operations Conference held in Logan.

Awards presented for papers as well as the competitive main tapping competition and Water taste test all contributed to another successful event with almost 800 in attendance.

Tony Cover from Goondiwindi Regional Council was announced as the 2018 Queensland Operator of the Year at the WIOA Awards Dinner. Tony won the award ahead of the other finalist in Gary Fenwick from Queensland Urban Utilities and Glen Ziph from Trility who also are congratulated.

The Queensland Young Operator of the Year Award was taken out by Andrew Hanifin from Unitywater and the Queensland Operator of the Year (Civil/All Rounder) was awarded to Brad Milfull from Logan City Council.

A highlight of the event was the Ixom Water of Origin conducted on Wednesday that saw NSW defeat Queensland for the first time in four years. Both samples, NSW from Port Macquarie and Queenslands Yeppoon will compete for Australia’s Best Tasting Tap Water at the national championship to be held in Toowoomba on 17 October during Water Week.
