About the Role

This role will provide immediate supervision and direction to a work crew and be part of a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater distribution and reticulation network. It will liaise with the Team Leaders to ensure all operational and maintenance duties are performed in accordance with Council policies and procedures, Council’s customer service standards and relevant legislation, standards and codes of practices.

The role will have authority as a holder of a Drainer’s Licence to carry out and supervise drainage work for which the licence is issued and perform daily planning and resourcing of materials, equipment and labour required to complete the operations and maintenance tasks on time and within budget.

The role will be required to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Current Drainer’s licence or relevant superior qualification (essential).
  • Current “MR” class driver’s licence.
  • Confined Space Entry ticket and a good knowledge of confined space entry procedures.
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 (QLD).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently, including the ability to supervise work crews.
  • Knowledge of and experience in operation and maintenance of wastewater distribution and reticulation systems, including maintenance, repair and construction techniques and operation and maintenance of pump stations.
  • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical and civil engineering drawings and to create as constructed plans.
  • Ability to understand and operate pump station control (SCADA) Systems.
  • Ability to read, write and prepare numerical calculations to a standard commensurate with the duties of the position.
  • A working knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations, Advisory Standards, Industry Codes of Practice and other associated legislation relative to the position including the National Plumbing and Drainage Standard AS/NZS 3500.2.22003 and the Plumbing and Drainage Act and Regulation.
