Would you like the opportunity to contribute to reducing the environmental risk to Water and Waste related activities in the Mackay Region?

Mackay Regional Council has a Principal Environmental Officer position in the Water Treatment team available on permanent full-time basis.

About the role:

The Principal Environmental Officer will take a lead role in the environmental management of a large Water and Waste utility including liaising with the regulator on licencing, regulation and compliance issues, delivery of statutory reports, managing environmental monitoring databases, and developing guidelines and practices for improved environmental compliance.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Degree from a recognised tertiary institution in environmental management; science (chemical, forensic, physical, geological, hydrological, environmental, applied and biological); environmental engineering or degree from a related discipline.
  • QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
  • Auditing experience and/or qualifications.
  • Highly developed ability to deal with difficult situations, clearly articulate issues, negotiate outcomes and resolve problems, with an attitude to take personal responsibility for promptly handling and resolving workplace tasks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technical and environmental requirements for Water and Waste related activities and ability to apply them in everyday work practices.

  • Base annual salary from $115,015
  • Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
