About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sewage Treatment Plant Operator to be responsible for the operation of the City’s Sewage/Recycled Water Treatment Plants including managing site activities, maintenance, running of treatment plant process streams, and onsite staff and contractors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage site activities, maintenance, running of treatment plant process streams, and onsite staff and contractors.
  • Provide exception reports and recommend remedial actions to operators for operations outside of Licence Quality Assurance and Integrated Environmental Management Systems requirements.
  • Provide accurate detailed technical advice and knowledge both within the team and to internal and external customers and develop, innovative work practices to enhance workplace productivity.
  • Supervise and direct the Operators and assistants.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventative maintenance at the Plant.
  • Undertake other duties and tasks that are reasonable within the limits of the employee’s skills, competency and training.

What you bring to your new role:

  • Certificate III in Water Operations (Wastewater Treatment) (mandatory requirement)
  • Australian Driver’s Licence (mandatory requirement)
  • WHS Licence General Construction White Card (mandatory requirement)
  • An ability to work across several different types of treatment process streams at different locations
  • Demonstrated experience working within a Sewage Treatment Plant
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • High level of motivation and adaptability, with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use monitoring systems and log data
  • Ability to participate in an On Call Roster.

Please note:

  • To be eligible for this position, you must have permanent working rights in Australia.
  • This position is classified as security-sensitive critical infrastructure positions and the successful candidate will be required to undertake an AusCheck Background Check.
  • You will be required to wear a tight-fitting respirator at times.  For safety reasons and to ensure a proper fit, a clean-shaven face must be maintained at all times.
