About the role

This position will assist in the operation and maintenance of Townsville City Council’s wastewater treatment plants including monitoring, recording and reporting on all facets of treatment plant operations.

You will assist in the collection, sampling and analysis of plant processes in order to monitor and adjust as necessary and make arithmetic calculations and prepare reports on plant operation and compliance.

About you

In this role you will have the ability to read and understand basic mechanical and civil engineering drawings and understand and operate treatment plant control (SCADA) Systems. You will have a knowledge of the operation, maintenance and monitoring of biological wastewater treatment plants including waste activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, membrane or attached film treatment and at least 12 months experience in municipal wastewater, mining or other process industry requiring the operation of plant and equipment. You are required to have a “C” class driver’s licence.

Although there are no specific certificates required to secure this role, ideally you will be enrolled in, or prepared to enrol and complete, a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate III and complete this within two (2) years of commencement.

Desirable skills include a First Aid Certificate, Forklift certificate, White Card (Construction Industry), Trade certificate within the electrical or mechanical field.
