Biography

The Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) is dedicated to ensuring and responding to the public health requirements relating to the provision of water and wastewater services for communities in Australia and across the world.

We are committed to maintaining our position at the forefront of water science, working hard to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of water quality management, analysis and testing.

The AWQC was established with the primary focus of maintaining public health. Created over 80 years ago in the driest state in the driest continent, we understand the importance of safe reliable water services to the individuals and communities who are reliant upon them.

The AWQC is an independent business unit within the South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water), a South Australian Government enterprise. As such we have a deep understanding of and empathy with the workings of water utilities, as well as a long-term commitment to supporting the national water industry in monitoring and solving water quality challenges.

Our specific water industry focus drives our comprehensive service tailored to all aspects of the water cycle from catchment, source, treatment, distribution, wastewater, reuse and alternative sources such as desalination.

Backed by a passionate team that can assess the effectiveness of various treatment options, the AWQC is often engaged to provide testing and advice during major water quality incidents and on major infrastructure and environmental projects across Australia and internationally.
