The Queensland Water Directorate (qldwater) and the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) have established a strong partnership between the two organisations. The organisations share common purposes are to improve the quality of life through the protection and enhancement of a global water environment.
The two organisations have delivered training seminars in a number of Queensland locations as well as technical plant reviews and mentoring of operators.
qldwater sponsor the Young Operator of the Year and the Operator of the Year (Civil / All-rounder) Awards at the WIOA annual conference is another positive outcome of the relationship.
WIOA & the Queensland Water Directorate advance common interests by:
Working to identify ways to better serve our members through encouraging and promoting communication between our organisations and through collaborative education, qualification and training efforts (including the development of E-Learning where appropriate);
Promoting the advancement of water or wastewater systems operation and management to improve the quality of service to customers, protect the environment, and optimise the sustained use of plant assets;
Disseminate information relating to water and wastewater issues;
Provide a forum for the discussion of common interests and issues relating to operations management;
Undertake projects in areas of common need and interest;
Fostering public recognition of the role and achievements of operations professionals.
Queensland Water Directorate conducts the Queensland Water Taste Test, in 2012 it conducted the first Grand Final at the WIOA conference on the Gold Coast, which included WIOA EO George Wall as one of the judges.
