Melbourne Water is a statutory corporation wholly owned by the Victorian Government. The corporation manages Melbourne’s water supply catchments and bulk water supply system and treats most of Melbourne’s sewage.

Three retail water companies provide local water and sewerage services to consumers. Melbourne Water also manages waterways and major drainage systems throughout the greater Melbourne area.
