About the WIOA New South Wales Conference
In July 2007, WIOA staged its Inaugural Engineers and Operators Conference in NSW. Building on the success of the Victorian and Queensland conferences, WIOA is committed to developing the NSW event in both size and status so that it will rival the other two events in its strategic importance to the NSW water industry very quickly.
- Distribution of the latest "operational" technical and research based information through platform and poster presentations.
- Update of knowledge and skills plus network development by operations staff through interaction with fellow Water Industry employees.
- Provision of opportunities to view and discuss the latest advances in technical equipment and systems with suppliers and trade consultants.
Preference is given to papers which provide information on the latest advances in water technology or that provide practical solutions to operational issues. There is usually a mixture of papers sourced from hands-on "operators", industry technical experts and trade based representatives.
There are many generous prizes on offer at the event thanks to a number of sponsors who share our vision of encouraging "operations" people to share their knowledge and experiences with the wider industry.
To encourage Industry Operators, 'Actizyme' provides a substantial award for the 'Best Paper Presented by a WIOA Member'. To be eligible for this award, presenters must not hold a bachelor level tertairy qualifiation.
Iwaki Pumps Australia will present a laptop computer to the author of the paper judged 'Best Overall'.
Unfortunately, there were no Poster papers entered by Operators in 2007. An award will provided at future events for the "Best Poster Paper by an Operator".
The NSW Water Directorate will present 'The NSW Operator of the Year' award at this Conference annually. This award is judged following nominations direct from NSW Member Councils, Water Authorities and/or private industry companies employing operators.
Trade companies supplying goods or services to the water industry are extremely supportive of the conference and use it as a vehicle to demonstrate the latest advances in technology to delegates.
This support, along with sponsorship from various companies and the Host Councils is vital in allowing our Association to present a high standard Conference at a reasonable cost to Industry participants.
