After more than 20 years as a part time administration officer with WIOA, Marilyn Wall retired at the end of March.

We thank her for her efforts and flexibility over such a long period, and we hope to be able to coax her out of retirement occasionally in the future to help out at conferences.

Our heartfelt congratulations are extended to Tony Hourigan from TRILITY and Jillian Busch from Albury City Council, who were announced as WIOA’s tenth and eleventh Life Members at the Victorian conference in March.

They have both contributed an enormous amount to WIOA over the years and are very deserving of the award.

Heidi Josipovic from Albury City Council was also inducted into the IDIOTS fold in Bendigo.

A full write up on the contribution of all these outstanding members will be in the May 2023 edition of Operator.

Registrations are now open for the QLD Conference to be held in the Sunshine Coast on 19 & 20 July 2023.  For more information and to register visit: https://wioaconferences.org.au/qld-2023/

Unfortunately, the WIOA – Queensland “McBerns” Charity Bowls Day on Friday 2 September 2022 at the Yandina Bowls Club has been cancelled.

Apart from low registration numbers, there is heavy rain forecast for later this week and the Yandina Bowls Club prefer that we not go ahead on Friday.

After discussing options with the Bowls Day sub-committee we have decided to move the event to April/May 2023, with the exact date to be confirmed in the New Year.

We have also taken on board feedback that the event would be better supported by operators if it included a technical component to the day. We will look to run the day in a format similar to the very successful WIOA FNQ Event held annually in Cairns, with presentations in the morning and bowls in the afternoon.

Thank you to all our generous sponsors who put their hand up and also to everyone who registered for the event. We hope that the day will be back bigger and better in 2023.

The 2022 WIOA Annual General Meeting will be held online – broadcasting to all Members on Thursday 21 April 2022.

Members can access the meeting via an online facility by registering by 19 April 2022.

Instructions for access to the WIOA AGM Zoom room will be confirmed by email on registration.

Registration is essential
