Join the WIOA tour of NZ

WIOA members have an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in a tour of New Zealand water facilities in 2018. The tour will leave Australia on Friday 4 May 2018 and return from New Zealand on Saturday 12 May 2018.

The tour includes the Water Industry Operations Group New Zealand Conference to be held at the Convention Centre, Palmerston North from 9 to 11 May 2018.

Weekend Seminar & AGM

This year’s weekend seminar & AGM will be held on 3 & 5 March 2018 in Ballarat. The cost is free for members and is designed to be fun, informative and a great way to network and meet other WIOA members.

Toowoomba’s water takes on the world

WIOA has worked with the team from Toowoomba Regional Council’s (winner of the 2017 Ixom Australia’s Best Tasting Tap Water) to ensure their sample will arrive safely and on time for the International Water Tasting Competition to be held in West Virginia, USA in February 2018.

The competition is a part of WIOA celebrating the role of the the operator and we congratulate all the water treatment and water quality personnel who work tirelessly to ensure high quality, safe drinking water is continually supplied to the customer’s tap.

Nominate for the WIOA Committee

Nominations are invited from financial Individual members of the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia Inc, for the positions of Officers and Committee members for 2018.

The Committee will consist of up to 13 members comprising a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, the Chairperson/nominee of each State based Advisory Committee, and a minimum of three elected members.

2018 Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize

The Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize is an annual water science competition which showcases the unlimited potential of today’s high school students as they create solutions for current and future water challenges.

The Prize is awarded at Ozwater’18 in May 2018.

The competition challenges young people to think big and take a fresh look at water problems at local and global levels. The project encourages students to delve into all areas of water and aims to improve the quality of life through:

  • Improving water quality
  • Managing water resources
  • Water protection
  • Water sanitation
  • Water and wastewater treatment

The project must use scientifically accepted methodologies for experimentation, monitoring and reporting results.
